US Stocks: The Week Ahead (April 20-24)

The coming week is likely to keep analysts busy, as it will see earnings announcements from a host of leading US companies. So far companies have more or less have reported better than expected quarterly results, but a deluge of earnings abnnouncement in the week ahead may halt the current rally.

Investors will be focusing on the performance of a number of major companies, including including big names Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), IBM (NYE: IBM), AT&T (NYSE: T), McDonald's (NYSE: MCD), Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT), Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO), DuPont (NYSE: DD), Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO), Boeing (NYSE: BA), eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY), PepsiCo (NYSE: PEP).In all, 11 of the 30 Dow componets will report next week.

Meanwhile, the relatively light economic calendar begins with March's leading indicator data on Monday. Weekly initial claims for week ended April 18 and existing home sales data for March are due for release on Thurssday. Durable Goods Orders and New Home Sales for the month of March will be reported Friday.
